Infant Acoustic Isolette
The
Acoustic Isolette Sound Attenuating Enclosure is for infant hearing assessment
and early identification of hearing impairment.
- Oto-Acoustic Emission
- Auditory Brainstem Response
- Other Infant Hearing Screening Tests
"Over the past two decades advances in technology have provided
ever improving opportunities to indentify hearing impairments in infants
soon after birth. The primary justification for early identification of
hearing impairments in infants relates to the impact on speech and language
acquisition, academic achievements and social/emotional development",
according to the N.I.H. The N.I.H. consensus recommended that the
hearing of "at risk" infants be screened prior to discharge
from the hospital and that all others be screened within the first three
months of life.
Measurements of oto-acoustic emissions (OAE's) was selected as the first
test of the recommended screening procedures, in addition, those infants
who fail OAE screening would have additional testing for auditory brain
stem response (ABR) and if needed a comprehensive hearing evaluation no
later than 6 months of age.
The ABC-100 Infant Isolette is designed to provide the sound isolation
necessary so that the test can be conducted without interference from
outside noise. Clinical evaluation of the unit has proven its effectiveness
in testing for OAE and ABR measurement as well as other infant testing
procedures. The ABC-100 unique molded design features double wall construction
of cleanable hospital grade LLD polyethylene with a dead air space between
he walls to maximise isolation. The full view angled cover incorporates
large 1/4" thick lexan® vision panel with transparent hinged
hand port. The cover is supported and assisted in opening by means of
two pneumatic struts. Ventilation openings are provided on the back wall
with two horizontal external open end silencers.
